Mr. Murilo Pinto de Oliveira Ferreira has over 30 years’ experience in mining and was appointed Vale’s President and CEO in May 2011. He joined the company’s Executive Board in 2005, heading the Shareholdings and New Business Department.

Mr. Ferreira began his professional career at Vale in 1977 as a financial and economic analyst and, since then, he has held a number of important roles including CEO of Vale Inco in 2007 (now part of Vale’s operations in Canada).

Mr. Ferreira has an MBA in business administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo, a postgraduate diploma in administration and finance from the Rio de Janeiro branch of the same institution, and a Senior Executive specialist diploma from the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
