Commercial Developer since late 1960s. Currently a Partner at Lipton Rogers Developments LLP, a London based Development Company. Lipton’s special focus has been large sites with complex town planning and construction. Responsible for over 30 million sq ft of development in London. Currently working with Temasek on a 62 storey tower in the City of London, 22 Bishopsgate, and a 62 acre mixed use 7 million sq ft project, Silvertown in East London. Previous projects include Broadgate and Paternoster Square in the City of London, Chiswick Park and Stockley Park in West London and The Treasury in Whitehall.
Lipton has a personal interest in the quality of architecture and its impact on society and the creation of public space.
The founding Chairman of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment a department of government (1999-2004). Lipton is Chairman of the Major Developers Group, a group of the largest eight developers. He regularly deals with government and the Mayor of London. He has chaired reviews for the Mayor of London and for Cities as Chairman of the City Finance Commission.
He has served on important architectural bodies such as the Royal Fine Art Commission and the Architecture Foundation. Sir Stuart is also an art collector and was a board member of both the Royal National Theatre and of the Royal Opera House and involved in a number of arts organisations including the Tate Modern, Glyndebourne Opera House and the National Gallery.
