Xu Xianping

Former Vice Chairman, National Development and Reform Commission; Specially-appointed Professor, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University; and Member, 12th National Committee of CPPCC

Mr Xu Xianping was born in Huilong County, Hunan province, China in September, 1955. He graduated with doctor’s degree in management from Hu Nan University.

Mr Xu served successively as Secretary of Yueyang Municipal Committee of Communist Youth League, Director General of Yueyang Personnel Bureau, Vice Secretary of Hunan Provincial Committee of Communist Youth League, Deputy General Manager of Hunan Petroleum Company, General Manager of Petroleum Industry Co. Ltd., Deputy Mayor of Changsha City, Hunan Province, Vice Chairman of Hunan Provincial Planning Commission and Deputy Governor of Hunan Province.

Mr Xu served as Vice Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) from May, 2009 to Dec. 2014. His portfolio included development and planning, basic industries (infrastructure), employment and income distribution as well as high-technology industries.

Mr Xu has been the deputy to 9th, 10th and 11th National People’s Congress, the top legislative body of China and deputy to 12th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
